Sky is rolling out a voice search update to it's Sky Q boxes, meaning you’ll be able to talk into your remotes, Siri/Alexa/Cortana style, and queue up every Nicolas Cage movie the service has to offer.

The voice search control promises to work much like it does on rival platforms, by combing for actors and directors names.

You'll apparently even be able to set recordings and search for specific fixtures, by asking for something as nebulous as 'the Liverpool game' or famous movie phrases like 'I'll have what she's' having' and 'Say hello to my little friend.' We're looking forwards to seeing if 'It rubs the lotion on its skin' works.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s brand director of TV and content products, knowingly commented: 'May the force be with you' with your new voice search. Just ask Sky Q to 'show me the money' by pressing the side of the touch remote, making it even easier and faster to find, discover and watch the TV you love.'

More prosaically, you’ll be able to enunciate the usual commands for 'Star Wars' and cast the net wide by simply asking for 'comedy movies'.

On top of the long-awaited support for voice search, the Sky Q menus are also getting a refresh with the latest update.

The My Q section, which is where you can jump back into to a series through Continue Watching and check Recommendations, essentially becomes the new homepage. Access to the standard TV guide and Recordings will also now only be one remote click away from the newly-centred My Q page.

Facebook videos are also coming to the My Photos section, which also lets you browse through your Facebook photos on your TV.
